The Dante Alighieri was the only ship in its class, it was the first dreadnought battleship built for the Regia Marina. The ship was named after the Italian poet Dante Alighieri. She was built in 1913, however, she saw little action, she never fired her guns, but she served as flagship of the Italian Navy. The ship was refitted in 1923 and scrapped in 1928.
